Crochet Hat Project Became Crochet Purse

Filed under: Artsy & Craftsy — agnes @ 2:11 am

My first attempt on crochet myself a hat that took me more than 3 months to complete. Now it look like a giant cotton shower cap or restyle it to a purse. I don’t know if I should laugh or cry…

Datuk A.Samad Said: Tulisan ke Lukisan

I had early lunch today to view National Laureate poet Datuk A.Samad Said sketches at Petronas Art Gallery. Awesome ink sketches on napkins. A simple man of few words when he is in the bookstore, this is the place I frequently bump into Datuk A. Samad Said. I stay silent and move quietly if he is around, not that he is frightening but overwhelmed by his humbleness despite his fame and influence as a National Laureate. In fact he is a Living National Treasure. Visit Bibliobibuli blog post for more details. Photo of Datuk A. Samad Said is available here.

National Laureate poet Datuk A.Samad Said showcases his hidden artistic talent. For the first time ever, 100 of his sketches will be displayed to the public. See his use of visual language to express in-depth feelings which cannot be conveyed by words alone.

Good things never last

Filed under: Social and Politics — agnes @ 2:18 pm

A popular Teochew chicken rice may cease operation due to internal problem. Owner wanted to pass son the business but asked for huge amount of salary and rental (total amount of PM salary) from the young master. The old man’s greed has chased out his business heir to work for outside the family. This is the classic unfortunate event that caused many good things never last here. When patriach demands exceed the younger generation affordability, the family breaks. There is a Cantonese drama which the future mother in law asked for 3 shop properties as bride’s dowry. Greed….

Greed kills good things.

Don’t ask what others can do for you.
Ask yourself what you can do for others.

Politically & Socially Correct: Bahasa Malaysia

Filed under: Social and Politics — agnes @ 2:29 am

Hooray! Bahasa Malaysia is no longer known as Bahasa Melayu. See The Star for today’s news. I don’t understand why former Education Minister Anwar Ibrahim had to change Bahasa Malaysia to Bahasa Melayu. I still remember clearly Anwar Ibrahim tried to close chinese school while holding Education Minister post. This post is a reminder to myself, in case I turn senile in the next 5 years, not to support people like Anwar Ibrahim who would stir any kind issue to achieve his own agenda.
